Hello Blue Wolves!

I am so excited to be working hand in hand with you here at Immaculate Conception High School. I am here to help students with all academic, social/emotional, or personal issues they may be facing by working with them to find positive solutions. Along with that, I will work with students to help them manage any issues that cannot be quickly resolved as well as offer any resources available for the student to use moving forward. One of those resources being our amazing School Psychologist, who I work with to address mental health needs for our students and supply resources for families.

The social/emotional aspect of my role will be incorporated into the student’s day through individualized meetings. Here, students will uncover their strengths, passions, and mindfully work through issues. They will learn about themselves, build confidence, use their voices, and start to be respectful advocates for themselves. It is so important to teach students to remain true to who they are and to take charge of their own destiny and make things happen!

As growing young adults, students can be faced with personal issues daily, especially in an ever-changing, technology-filled, world! When meeting with students, it is my top priority to promote a nurturing environment to create a judgment-free zone and lend a listening ear. It is through our conversations and follow-ups that we will figure out what is working, what can be improved, and how to continue on a positive path towards the end goal.

Miss Kelly Koval, the Dean of Academics, and I work closely together to ensure the academic success of all our students! Together, we talk to our teachers in making sure all student needs in the classroom are being met. I will closely monitor the success of students and will intervene when necessary. Regular check-ins with both the student and teacher on daily progress are essential in ensuring that our strategies are working for each individual student.

One of the best things about Immaculate Conception is that we start having conversations about future plans the minute our students walk in the door. It is so important for students to have an understanding of who they are, their passions, dreams, and thinking about their journey after high school. By using Naviance, our students can take assessments that generate a curated list, specifically for them, on all colleges and careers out there that would be best for them.
I wholly love being a high school counselor! My greatest joy is knowing that I get to witness and support my students through every step of their high school journey. Along with helping students through difficulties, I will also work with my students to find their passions, create those dreams with them, and watch the students obtain them! In my office, students know my door is always open for them because not only am I here to guide them but I am also here to celebrate them!

I am so honored to be part of a community that empowers young women and encourages them to live out their dreams. I am fortunate to work alongside these amazing families, this faculty, and this staff. The future is extremely bright at Immaculate Conception High School, and I am ecstatic to be here with all of you!
