Immaculate Conception High School’s Soccer team supports a structured, challenging and motivating environment. ICHS focuses on our student-athletes’ total development and prepares our girls to perform at the highest level.

Our Blue Wolves soccer players quickly learn that their academic achievements take just as much nurturing as their on-court skills’ development.

Below, please find a student reflection from Caitlin Filja `20, describing her experience as an ICHS soccer player.

Soccer at Immaculate Conception High School
from a student-athlete’s perspective.

Over the last four years, I have been lucky enough to have been a part of the Immaculate Conception High School Soccer team. Playing a sport throughout high school is a physical, mental, and emotional challenge, yet in the end, it is worth it. Starting out playing my freshman year was exciting, yet nerve racking, especially because being a freshman going into a new school can be a little scary at first. Being a part of this soccer program helped me make so many friends who have stuck by my side through my years in high school, and who I know will last a lifetime. The comradery and bond the girls on the team and I shared is something extremely special to me, and is one of the reasons we have been so successful as a team throughout the past seasons.

Starting my sophomore year, I was named Captain of the team, along with two other team players. This was a huge honor for me. I knew I would have to work very hard to live up to the expectations and potential that I aspired for. With the support from the coaches, each practice the team and I would put in our full effort in order to motivate each other and better ourselves as much as we could. The work effort shown by the team is almost indescribable. My teammates worked remarkably hard every day, and never stopped trying to improve and perfect each of their skills. We took every win and loss as experience and cherish the hardships that we overcame. The heart and dedication each player gave is one of my favorite parts of the program.

The soccer program at Immaculate Conception is not just about playing the sport itself. It is so much more than that. It is about the family aspect created by the team, the tough grind that the players endure every time they walk into practice, and the memories of a lifetime that are made from playing the game with your best friends. In my eyes, Immaculate Conception gave me the best four years in my life.
