Core Values at Work at ICHS!

Earlier this week, the ICHS student council executive board and ambassadors, along with Joseph Azzolino and Renee Hyle Gitto ‘91 visited P.G. Chambers School to volunteer for a speech-language related project. P.G. Chambers School (PGCS) is a private school for children with multiple disabilities in Cedar Knolls, NJ. The school has over 120 children ranging in age from kindergarden through 8th grade.

ICHS Thanksgiving Food Drive

On November 18th, ICHS students Adrianna, Gabriella, Hannah, and Jennifer accompanied Joseph R. Azzolino, President/Principal and Chris Ward, Department Chair visited Grace United Church in Kearny, New Jersey. The group delivered turkeys and trimmings from the ICHS food drive collection. Throughout November, each homeroom collected food items from canned goods to corn bread mix to stuffing to accommodate a family’s Thanksgiving meal. In addition, Inserra Shop Rite donated a turkey for each basket.

Thanksgiving Prayer Service

Immaculate Conception High School students, faculty, and staff joined together for a Thanksgiving prayer service prior to the holiday break. Sister Alexander Siegel, campus minister organized the prayer service for the community. During thanksgiving we give thanks to God for all that we have received through the spring and early fall.

Compassion Through Art

Through the Felician core value of Compassion, the ICHS Art Club and art students, along with Michael Baretto, art teacher, created Christmas card wishes for terminally ill Jacob Thompson.

ICHS Students Receive Youth Ministry Award

ICHS students, Melissa DeFrancesco, Jennifer Single, and Alyssa Ulloa received the Youth Discipleship Award as students who respond to the call to discipleship through service to their school community. DeFrancesco and Single were nominated by Sister Alexander Siegel, ICHS Campus Minister and Ulloa was nominated by her home parish, Queen of Peace.

Freshmen Class Retreat

Earlier this month, the ICHS freshmen class attended their first high school retreat. The freshman retreat is a great way for incoming students to develop new friendships as well as receiving insight for their freshman year transition.
