The officials stopped the game and teammates, coaches, fans, officials, and opponents all had the opportunity to congratulate her on this great feat. Coach Jiovanny Fontan presented Jariah with a ball to commemorate her 1,000 points which she turned around and gave to her mom in the stands. She thanked both of her parents for their support through the years.
Jariah exclaimed, “Through all the obstacles I have been through, I feel like my 1,000 points have set me free. I am humbled and blessed with my God given talent!”
Mr. Chris Ward, Athletic Director, added, “Jariah’s achievement is truly extraordinary! She is the first to achieve this great milestone at our school, since Jasmine Gee in 2016!”
Jariah is in a class with other elite basketball players from the past decade. Jasmine Gee ’16, and Kelcey Castro ’12, both hit the 1,000-point mark, and Samantha Fuehring ’15 reached 2,000 points before graduating from ICHS.
