Immaculate Conception High School “Shines Bright” at Gala Dinner Honoring Twelve for Hall of Fame

The annual Immaculate Conception High School Gala Dinner, “A Night to Shine” took take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Estate at Florentine Gardens. Shining bright, the ICHS community joined together to celebrate this year’s Hall of Fame honorees and to celebrate the next 100 years of ICHS. 

The focus of the evening was to honor and showcase outstanding individuals for their unyielding commitment to ICHS inducting them into the Hall of Fame including; Joseph R. Azzolino, Wanda Huderski '67, Sister Mary Fidelma Klutkowski, C.S.S.F (posthumously), Stephen and Diane LoIacono, Sister Theresa Mary Martin, C.S.S.F., Joseph and Dorothy Mastropaolo, Sister Marilyn Marie Minter, C.S.S.F., Michael Nardino, Gregory Vasilik, and Tara Lynn Wagner '90. 


“Tonight’s honorees shine forth by living the Felician core values so important to ICHS community. They truly are extraordinary and contribute to the enduring sprit of IC High.” Joseph R. Azzolino, master of ceremonies kept the audience captivated and entertained throughout the evening.  From heartfelt speeches to tears and laughter; it was a truly extraordinary night.

The evening introduced the inaugural “Shooting Star” awards. The Shooting Star Award was created to spotlight current ICHS students for their amazing energy, creative spirit, and unwavering commitment to the Felician Core Values. The students who received the award were Seniors: Jacqueline Zegler and Alexandra Barbelet, Juniors: Jennifer Single and Melissa DeFrancesco, and Sophomores: Victoria Veloz-Vicioso and Victoria NiCastro.

As a special surprise, the night’s highest honor, The Centennial Award, was presented to Sister M. Annelle Velivis, C.S.S.F '60, past ICHS principal and dear friend of the school.

With an impressive turn-out of over 215 guests, the evening ended with a closing prayer by honoree, Sister Marilyn Minter, and a dance party that welcomed guests and honorees to sing along to We Are Family by Sister Sledge.

“So many people have put heart and soul into ICHS and to honor them as well as our Felician Sisters was just magical.  It is heartwarming to know that there are so many kind souls in the world. I feel really blessed and am already looking forward to next year’s gala” Joseph R. Azzolino, President/Principal.

The Night to Shine Gala Dinner was organized by the ICHS Hall of Fame committee made up of Felician Sisters, alumnae, staff, and community friends.
